From Your Personal Movie Vault

We all have our favorite films- mine's Amelie. I love watching this french film. The story, acting, cinematograpy and direction are in my opinion, perfection. This film would top my list of movies to bring to a desert island.

Then there are the other movies. You know.....the ones you are a bit embarassed to admit that you not only watch, but you love. With some of them, you may not care if anyone joins you in watching.....but others....well, you hit the remote and change the channel if anyone comes into the room for fear that they will know what you are watching. (For me, its Red Dawn- this 80's film is a riot. It tells the tale of a Soviet invasion of America, in particular, a small town in Colorado. Getting their "big break" in this one are Patrick Swayze, Lea Thompson, Charlie Sheen, Jennifer Grey and C. Thomas Howell. I would so do C. Thomas Howell in this movie, it isn't funny)

So what movie will you be brave enough to confess to enjoying? Let us in on the secret and tell us why you think we should hunt your movie down and pop it in our dvds.

Here are my suggestions-

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension- Buckaroo Banzai is a scientist, surgeon, crime fighter and rock star. With his companions, the Hong Kong Cavaliers, he has to twart the plans of the red lectoids from Planet 10. Starring Peter Weller (very nice on the eyes-check out the picture) John Lithgow, and Jeff Goldblum, this is one movie where you just sit back and enjoy the ride. Also, I love the movie's end credit sequence. Check it out!

My other suggestion is Night of the Comet. This one is from the early 80's and is only available on VHS- although it is sometimes on cable. A comet passes close to Earth and most of the population is turned to red dust. In Los Angeles there are three survivors- a valley girl, her cheerleader sister (oh, they are not the typical valley girls- they know how to shoot a gun, no problem) and a truck driver. They have to face off against comet zombies and government scientists. This isn't high art. Just a B-movie that is a hoot!
